1. लाहौर में जन्मी वीना मैनी ने , प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा कटनी मध्यप्रदेश में व स्नाकोत्तर शिक्षा जबलपुर विश्वविद्यालय से प्राप्त की।एम् एड में विश्व विद्यालीय स्वर्ण -पदक प्राप्त किया। प्रारम्भ से ही भरत -naatyam नृत्य व नाटकों में गहन अभिरुचि होने से ढेरों ईनाम जीते।नैशनल कैडेट कोर में सीनियर मोस्ट अंडर आफीसर बनीं व मध्य प्रदेश को आल इंडिया में रीप्रसेंट किया।वहाँ बेस्ट कैडेट का खिताब जीता। विवाहोपरांत वीना विज बनी,व १९८३ से दूरदर्शन व आकाशवाणी जालंधर से जुड़ गईँ। कटनी में बाड्सले स्कूल एवं जालंधर में एपीजे स्कूल में भी कुछ समय के लिए अध्यापन कार्य किया।सन् २००० तक ढेरों नाटकों टेली – फिल्मों, धारावाहिकों व कई पंजाबी फिल्मों में भी अभिनय किया। स्टार-प्लस व लिश्कारा चैनलों पर भी स्टार बेस्ट सैलर और ५२ किश्तों का धारावाहिक ‘वापसी’ किया। यूं एस में अब वर्ष का आधा समय रहने के कारण सब छोड़ना पडा। साहित्य की सेवा- स्वरूप कालेज के समय से ही कालेज- पत्रिका व समाचार- पत्रों में कवितायेँ लिखतीं रहीं। रंगमंच आकाशवाणी व दूरदर्शन के साथ- साथ लेखन – कार्य भी चलता रहा। पंजाबी संस्कृति को सीखने का मौका मिलता रहा। आकाशवाणी जालंधर से अपनी आवाज में कविता- पाठ भी कई बार किया। सन् २००३ में ह्यूस्टन टेक्सास (यूं एस) मेंL कवि-सम्मेलन में वाहा-वाही मिली।

सन् १९९९ में प्रथम काव्य संग्रह ‘ सन्नाटों के पहरेदार ‘ छपा । सन् २००४ में प्रथम कहानी संग्रह ‘पिघलती शिला ‘ आथार्स गिल्ड आफ इन्डिया के सहयोग से छपी ।
सन् २०११ दिसम्बर में काव्य संग्रह ‘कदम ज़िन्दगी के’एवम् मार्च २०१४ में कथा संग्रह ‘तुरपाई तथा अन्य कहानीयाँ कहानियां’छपी ।
सन्नाटों के पहरेदार का द्वितीय संस्करण २०१५ में छपा और पिघलती शीला का द्वितीय संस्करण २०१४ में छपा ।

Hindi Poetry and Short stories by Veena Vij ‘Udit’

Poetry: From Veena Vij ‘Udit’ comes a collection of Hindi poems: her thoughts-of-a-lifetime which touch on the various nuances of what it takes to ‘live’. Comes as it, from as much her own experiences, as from what the world looked to her…………an amalgamation of some of the bitter-truths, self-realisations, memories, and hopes………

Short Stories: She has written a multitude of short-stories in Hindi, which again resonate the itsy-bitsys of life, albeit wrapped in a literary semblance. Interesting and vivid to read, the stories weave around the sub-urban life of the sixties and day to day life too.Many of her stories are routinely published on some of the well known Hindi web-portals, as well in the Hindi vernacular press: Kadmbini, Samay-Surabhi, Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, Punjab Kesari,  etc.Acting: She has had a part time ‘occupation’ for more than a decade acting in Television serials.Her’s was a popular face on the small-box in what was still the era of Doordarshan – the Eighties and Nineties. She was a known player on the Jalandhar Doordarshan Serials and Plays circuit, what with more than ninety shows under her belt. She acted in a few plays for Delhi Doordarshan, and also had a brush with acting on the stage (Theatre), Punjabi Movies, and the  cable channels.Introduction: Veena Vij did her education (from Bardsley English Medium Senior Secondary School – 1959)  from Katni, a small town in the heart of central India. She post graduated in Arts and Education with university Gold Medal from Jabalpur. She spent most of her married life in Jalandhar, and Pahalgam (Kashmir). She now spends six  months every year in the USA.

Update: Veena Vij was awarded Sahita Sarvodya title by Authors Guild of India during 34th Convention held in Bhopal on 21st Dec, 2007.

She was felicitated by Hon. Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Balram Jakhar.
